Cyclamen

Cyclamen is a handy little plant which provides much needed colour at this time of year when autumn is fast approaching. The petals almost look as if they have been stuck on upside down. Reaching about 15cms above soil level the petals look down towards saucer shaped leaves of dark green with silvery veins running through them. Cyclamen comes in many different shades of purple and pink and looks at home planted with Kale of purple and white varieties. Cyclamen can be used in containers and hanging baskets to bridge that gap between late summer and autumn.

Autumn hanging baskets

Christine on May 26th 2007 02:02 pm

Autumn hanging baskets this year so far consist of two sea grass baskets full of violas. These baskets are different to the green wire baskets that I normally use so I was quite interested as to how they would look. The baskets are lined with low cost black plastic bin liners. This retains moisture and soil and cannot be seen. I have used 6 violas of differing colours to each basket, watered well and hope. As you can see they have turned out pretty well. Its simple and straight forward but shows off these delicate little plants to their best.hanging basket_1.JPGIMG_0154.JPG IMG_0158.JPG
